1. What time do you open weekday mornings?
We open our doors at
6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Believe it or not- there are people
that begin their day with a swim.
2. Is there a diving board?
Yes. In fact, this
facility has two diving boards! We will be offering classes for people
that would like to develop skills in diving.
3. How could I get a job at the pool?
We hire highly skilled people that are certified as
lifeguards. Each of our lifeguards are certified not only in
lifeguarding
skills but also
– AED
(Automated External Defibrillation ), CPR and First Aid. Anyone
certified in these skills can apply for a job.
4. Are you open
during vacations?
We want this facility
to be THE PLACE TO BE!!! Our goal is to have the pools open 7 days a
week. Of course we will be closed during some holidays. Please
continue to check our web site for the current schedule. You can also
call the activity line (541-5746) for daily schedules.
5. How deep is
the pool?
The exercise pool has
some 5 and 6 foot areas, but most all of the 20x40 foot pool is at the 4
foot level. The main pool has several areas with different heights.
The 20x20 foot shallow swim area is 3’ to 3.5’ deep. Another area
within the main pool is 4’deep. A third, rather large area, is 8’
deep. The diving area is 13’ deep.
6. Will
Charlotte
have a competitive swim team?
Similar to the way Soccer became a varsity sport in Charlotte ten years
ago, we will begin building the skills of our youngsters through club
activities and competitions. Once we have established an interest and
begin to develop competitive knowledge and skills, we will recommend to
the Board of Education that we establish swimming as a sport that is
part of our athletic department - a varsity sport and we will compete
against area high schools.
7. What about
synchronized swimming—will there be a club?
We would like to have
area youth develop synchronized swimming skills. If there is enough
interest, a club could be started.
8. I have a 6
month old baby—will there be a class that she
and I can
take together?
Our “baby bug” class
would be just perfect for you and your little girl. It’s a class that
helps baby and parent with the bonding process, they feel closer, and
begin to develop a comfortable feeling in water – together. This class
will take place in the comfortable-warm atmosphere of our 86+ degree
exercise pool.
9. I have heard
that the exercise pool is warm.
The exercise pool is
86-88 degrees.
10. I’m 67 years
old and can only swim with my face in the water. I want to learn how to
paddle around on my back-to float like I see my neighbor do—am I too
old? Is it too late for me?
It’s never
too late! We will have a water class especially for our more mature
friends. Or, if you prefer, you could enroll in a private class and
receive private swimming lessons.
11. I don’t have a
lot of flexible time—when can I lap swim in this pool?
The pool
will be open 7 days a week. ANYTIME the pool is open there will
be lanes designated for lap swimmers.
