New Aquatic Supervisor Brings Renewed Focus & Enthusiasm

Charlotte Public Schools is proud to introduce Dan Christian to the Charlotte community.  Dan has an undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallce College and a master’s degree in recreation and sport administration from Kent State University.  Dan exudes confidence and a renewed focus needed for the success of the Charlotte Aquatic Center.  Dan was named the new aquatic supervisor for the Charlotte Aquatic Center starting May 13, 2013.
 
“This job is where my passion lies and it allows me to do what I love while stepping up our programs and expanding the community’s interest in aquatics,” said Dan.  “My background is in aquatics management and instruction and this is where I want to be.  The Charlotte community should be very proud of the investment they have made in this facility and the opportunities it offers.”

Dan has a varied aquatics background, working as a lifeguard, water safety instructor, lifeguard instructor, USA Swimming coach, pool manager, and most recently, assistant director of competitive swimming and aquatics at the Waynesboro Family YMCA.  Dan currently holds certifications with USA Swimming, American Red Cross, and is a certified PADI Rescue Scuba Diver.

The Charlotte Aquatic Center is an eight lane regulation sized competition pool that can accommodate 345 swimmers in the main pool and 83 in the exercise therapy pool.  The $6 million facility is a state-of-the-art pool and was approved by voters in 2001. Hayes Green Beach Hospital patients use the therapy pool as directed by their physician.
